Good Questions, Honest Answers
Everything Los Angeles neighbors usually want to know before their first visit — and if we missed one, just call.
What parts of Los Angeles do you cover?
We work about 20 miles out from downtown (90012). That covers Silver Lake, Echo Park, Los Feliz, Highland Park, Eagle Rock, Mid-City, Koreatown, West Adams, Hancock Park, the Westside down to Westchester, and the southern San Fernando Valley from Studio City and Sherman Oaks out toward Encino. We also cover Pasadena, Glendale, Burbank, Santa Monica, Culver City, West Hollywood and Beverly Hills. If you're unsure whether you're in range, call and ask. We'll give you a straight answer, including on whether traffic makes a short job worth the drive.
Do you give free estimates?
Yes. For most small jobs, a couple of photos and a quick description are enough for us to give you a firm price. For larger or less clear-cut jobs, we'll come look at no charge. Either way, you get a number before anything is scheduled.
Do you charge by the hour or by the job?
We price by the job whenever we can, so you know the total before we start. For open-ended punch lists, we'll agree on a rate and a rough scope up front. If the work goes faster than expected, the savings go to you.
Are you insured?
Yes. We carry general liability insurance and will provide proof if you ask, which some condo boards and property managers in LA require before anyone works in the building. We're local, so if you have a question after the job, you can reach us easily.
Are your pros licensed and insured?
Yes. The work is done by insured local pros who hold the licenses and registrations required in California for the job at hand, so electrical and plumbing connections are handled by licensed tradespeople. Ask us anything before we start.
Can you help earthquake-proof the inside of my house?
Yes, at the level of what's inside the house, and that matters more than most people think. We secure bookcases, dressers and tall cabinets to studs, mount TVs on proper wall brackets, add latches to cabinets where you keep dishes or glass, and fasten heavy art and mirrors to the wall. We can also strap or re-strap the water heater, replace stiff old water supply lines with braided ones that flex in a shake, and show everyone in the house where the water and gas shutoffs are.
Can I just text you a photo?
Yes, and that's usually the fastest way to get a quote. Send a clear photo or two with a sentence about what's going on. That's often enough for us to give you a price and a time without coming out first.
How soon can you get here?
Call or text and we'll offer you the earliest opening that fits your schedule. That's usually within a few days. Leaks, doors that won't lock and storm or wind damage get moved up. Since LA traffic is what it is, we schedule by part of town so we can give you a real arrival window and not lose half a day to the freeway.
Got a list? Let's shorten it.
One quick call or text gets you a real price and a real arrival time — usually within the week.
