Furniture Assembly in Los Angeles, CA
Los Angeles is a city of moves. People change apartments when a lease ends, move up to a house in the Valley, leave for a new job and get replaced by the next tenant, and every one of those moves ends with a pile of flat-pack boxes in a room. In an older building, those boxes may have come up three flights of stairs with no elevator. In a new building, they may be sitting in the lobby until a set time for the elevator. Furniture also has to be safe for earthquakes here. A tall bookcase or dresser that isn't secured to the wall can tip in a shake, and that's a real risk for kids and pets.
We build pieces to the manufacturer's instructions, square them up so doors and drawers open smoothly, and tighten every cam and bolt. Then we anchor anything tall or top-heavy to the wall studs with the included tip-over kit or better hardware if the included kit is flimsy. If a building or HOA has rules about deliveries or work hours, we follow them. When we're finished, we break down the boxes, bag the foam and plastic, and leave the room ready to use.

How a furniture assembly visit usually goes
Check the Pieces and the Space
We open the boxes, check that all the parts and hardware are there, and confirm the piece fits the room, the door swing and the outlets before we start building.
Assemble to Spec
We follow the manufacturer's steps, use hand tools where power tools could strip particleboard, and square each piece so doors line up and drawers slide smoothly.
Anchor and Level
We level the piece on uneven floors and secure anything tall or top-heavy to the studs with tip-over hardware, which is especially important in earthquake country.
Clean Up and Walk Through
We break down boxes, bag foam and plastic, wipe off any dust, and walk you through how adjustments and moving parts work before we leave.
In an older Los Angeles building, getting furniture into the unit is often harder than putting it together. A 1920s courtyard apartment in Hollywood or a walk-up in Echo Park may have narrow stairs and tight turns that a finished wardrobe won't fit through, so we build in the room where it will stay. Newer buildings downtown and along Wilshire usually require elevator reservations, padded elevators and deliveries only during certain hours, and we plan around those. Many people moving here or between neighborhoods want a bedroom and home office ready the same day, so we prioritize the bed, then the desk, then the dressers and shelves.
What shapes the price in Los Angeles
Furniture assembly pricing comes down mostly to the number of pieces and how complex they are. A nightstand or small desk goes quickly, but a big wardrobe system, a sectional with many connectors, or a loft bed takes much longer. Pieces that have to be built in place, in rooms too small to build and then move them, can add time. Building logistics matter too: walk-ups, elevator reservations and long carries from loading docks to units all add up in LA. Anchoring tall pieces to studs is quick, and we recommend it for anything that could tip. One visit that covers a whole move-in list costs much less than several separate trips.
Neighbors often ask
Can you anchor furniture to my plaster walls?
Yes. In older LA homes we find the wood studs behind the plaster and screw the tip-over straps into them, which is much stronger than any plaster anchor. Where a stud isn't in the right place, we use a rated anchor or mount a small strip of wood across two studs and attach the strap to that. We drill carefully so the plaster doesn't crack around the hole.
How long does it take to put together a wardrobe or a bed?
It depends on the piece. Simple beds and desks usually take an hour or less. Big wardrobes, systems with sliding doors, and loft or bunk beds can take a few hours each. If you send us the item names or links, we can give you a realistic time and a firm price for the whole list.
Can you take apart furniture for a move and put it back together?
Yes. We disassemble beds, wardrobes and desks before a move, bag and label all the hardware, and rebuild them at the new place. That's often the only way to get large pieces out of older LA walk-ups and narrow staircases. Moving it between addresses is up to you or your movers, but we can schedule to work with their arrival time.
Do you assemble outdoor furniture and play sets?
We assemble patio sets, outdoor storage boxes, umbrellas and smaller play equipment regularly. Since much of LA has sun nearly all year, we use the stainless or coated hardware included with outdoor pieces and check that everything is tight and level on patio pavers or concrete. Larger play structures that need concrete footings take a second short visit, so the concrete can cure before we finish the assembly and tighten everything down.
Can you assemble office furniture in a home office or small business?
Yes. Many people in LA work from home, so desks, office chairs, filing cabinets and shelving are common requests. We can also assemble furniture for small offices and studios. We'll set up a desk at the right height, route cables neatly, and anchor any tall filing or shelving units.
